2.18 Film Bite-wing Survey
Protocol: The student will be able to produce a four-film bite wing survey.

Complete armamentarium assembled |
Turned on X-ray machine and selected setting |
Set-up imaging software for appropriate survey |
Placed all necessary barriers |
Asked the patient to remove eyeglasses and all piercings |
Positioned the patient |
Draped the patient with a lead apron and thyroid collar |
Perform hand hygiene and don exam gloves |
Used a mouth mirror to inspect the oral cavity |
Asked the patient to remove any removable prosthetic appliances |
Placed the sensor in the patient’s mouth for a right molar bitewing exposure |
Resulting image is of diagnostic quality |
Placed the sensor in the patient’s mouth for a right premolar bitewing exposure |
