GenA.I. and Your Teaching

In this section, we explore the implications for generative A.I. on your teaching practice, providing resources on preparing for the beginning of the term by being explicit with and supporting your students around GenA.I. in their learning, including writing a syllabus statement.

This section is divided into two chapters:

Pre-Term Checklist for Faculty

This checklist contains the most important, before-start-of-term tasks that establish expectations around students’ AI use (or non-use) and what “academic integrity” means within the course. Additionally, it includes tasks that serve to augment transparency, trust and dialogue around AI use in the classroom and assessments.

Classroom Policies and Syllabus Statements

One way of communicating with students about A.I. use is by writing a course policy and including a statement of such in your syllabus. This chapter includes some information and resources you might want to include in your syllabus or other course materials (e.g., how to cite A.I.), as well as some example generative A.I. syllabus statements.
