Guests – Strait

Having guests in Campus Housing is a privilege, not a right. Guests are welcome to visit, but their presence must not disrupt the community or breach housing standards, including our Guest Standards, and all other standards as applicable.

A summary of the Guest Standards:

  • Accompaniment: Students must always accompany their guest(s), except when using the washroom facilities. Hosts are not permitted to leave their guest unattended in their room.
  • Guest Behaviours: Students are responsible for the behavior of their guests at all times. Hosts must ensure their guests are aware of, understand, and adhere to the Campus Housing Community Standards. If a guest breaches any policy, the host may be held accountable as if they themselves breached the policy.
  • Overnight Stays Limitations: A student may sign in a guest for a maximum of three (3) consecutive overnights, with no more than nine (9) overnight visits per month per individual student. An overnight guest is anyone staying past the commencement of quiet hours for part, or the entirety of the evening.
  • Guest Registration: Students are required to sign in all guests according to the campus guest registration procedures.
  • Minors: Hosts are not permitted to have individuals 17 years or younger as overnight guests in Campus Housing. Individuals ages 16 or younger must leave Campus Housing at the start of designated quiet hours.

Guest Restrictions

Campus Housing staff reserve the right to restrict the number of guests permitted at any time throughout the year and without notice in extenuating circumstances and/or when there is a concern for the safety and security of the Campus Housing community.

Overnight Guests

Strait Area Campus requires 1 business day’s notice of an overnight guest, through a guest form completed with the Coordinator and is subject to approval. We ask that any weekend requests are made by 4pm on Thursday.

For requests for guests staying over 3 nights (typically requested during reading week, long weekend, etc.) this must be submitted 5 business days prior to the requested stay, and will require the approval of the Coordinator of Campus Housing.
