Standard – Weapons
The weapons standard prohibits the possession, use, or display of any firearms, ammunition, explosive devices, or any other objects deemed dangerous or capable of causing harm. This includes not only actual weapons but also replicas, such as toy weapons (e.g., Nerf guns), or any object that could cause alarm or fear, whether or not it is intended for harm. The goal of this standard is to maintain a safe and secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors in Campus Housing.
Summary of Expectations
- The possession, use, or display of firearms, ammunition, explosives, or any object considered a dangerous weapon is strictly prohibited.
- Replicas of weapons, including toy guns, (such as Nerf guns or foam nun chucks), or any item designed to resemble a weapon, are not allowed in Campus Housing.
- Any objects or items that have the potential to cause harm or instill fear, regardless of their intent, are prohibited. This includes any tools or equipment that can be misused or have the appearance of being dangerous.
- Students are expected to comply with all safety protocols and be mindful of the safety of others at all times.
NSCC’s Campus Housing community is committed to providing a safe and secure living environment for all students. The possession or use of any form of weapon, including replicas or toys, is prohibited to eliminate any threats, misunderstandings, or fear within the community. Ensuring that weapons—real or perceived—are not present helps to foster an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect for all individuals. Any breaches of this standard will result in appropriate sanctions to protect the well-being of everyone in Campus Housing.
All incidents involving weapons of any kind, including toy or replica weapons, will immediately be classified as Level Three Campus Housing Community Standards breach.
