26 Student Advocacy
You will likely hear from passionate students on any number of topics – students will often approach the Student Association, as their student government, to advocate on their behalf or to take a stand on important issues of concern.
Advocacy Platforms
You can address concerns that students bring to you and your executive team in many ways, such as:
- in your monthly meetings with your Manager, Student Services,
- in your meetings with your Regional Principal (once/semester),
- in your bi-weekly Presidents’ Council meetings,
- at the bi-annual NSCC Student Roundtable with the Nova Scotia Minister of Advanced Education,
- at monthly Students’ Council meetings to receive further feedback from other students on the topic(s),
- working with your VP Services to develop awareness campaigns, and/or
- social media awareness campaigns
