2 Executive Primary Roles & Responsibilities

President

The President serves as the contact point for the Student Association with both students and staff/faculty. In addition to this, their primary responsibilities are:

  • Acting as a primary signatory on your campus SA’s bank account
  • Ensuring that both Students’ Council and Executive team meetings are taking place
  • Supporting conflict resolution among the executive team
  • Attending Presidents’ Council and Provincial Roundtable meetings
  • Completion of a President’s Project
  • Supporting each VP respectively by:
    • Reviewing cheque requests and signing associated cheques
    • Attending/helping with one (1) event each month
    •  Supporting programs and services as needed
    •  Setting dates for Students’ Council and Executive team meetings

Vice President Finance

The VP Finance is responsible for the financial oversight and management of the Student Association’s financial business including recording expenses and revenue as well as reconciling the financial management spreadsheet with your campus Student Association bank account. Their primary responsibilities are:

  • Acting as a primary signatory on your campus SA’s bank account
  • Development of the annual budget in coordination with the Executive team (budget must then be presented and approved through a vote of the Students’ Council)
  • Providing Budget updates at each Students’ Council and Executive meeting
  • Receiving and processing of all student funding requests
  • Following up for supporting documents regarding all student funding requests
  • Logging all cheques/payments as well as any deposits
  • Completing monthly revenue expenses form
  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations

Vice President Activities

The VP Activities is responsible for programming events and activities on and off campus. Their primary responsibilities are:

  • Planning a minimum of two (2) monthly events/activities using the Event Management Form
  • Management and facilitation of events/activities, including risk management and waivers associated with all programming
  • Consideration for inclusivity, diversity and accessibility in all events/activities
  • Promotion of health and wellness
  • Establishment and oversight of sports teams
  • Provide fundraising guidance and support to Teams
  • Planning of Orientation week events in coordination with Student Services (if elected in the Spring Elections)
  • Planning of a Graduation event (begin planning by February)

Vice president services

The VP Services is responsible for awareness programming and Student Association services/program oversight and facilitation. Their primary responsibilities are:

  • Development and oversight of Student Association programs such as Student Pantry, Breakfast Program, Campus Closet, etc.
  • Planning a minimum of one (1) monthly awareness campaign, and coordinating with VP Activities on awareness events using the Event Management Form
  • Oversight of Societies
  • Establishment and oversight of Clubs and Committees
  • Provide fundraising guidance and support to Societies
  • Community outreach and collaboration

vice president communications

The VP Communications is responsible for marketing and communications of all Student Association affairs as well as Students’ Council management. Their primary responsibilities are:

  • Development of a marketing and communications plan
  • Sending weekly email newsletters and monitoring of campus Student Association inbox
  • Content development and student engagement initiatives in coordination with VP Activities and VP Services
  • Posting for and monitoring of campus Student Association social media accounts
  • Management of Student Association bulletin board(s)
  • Management of Students’ Council membership, including maintaining a membership list and sending meeting invites
  • Writing and sending meeting Agendas for Students’ Council and Executive team meetings
  • Taking meeting minutes for Students’ Council and executive team meetings
