38 Planning Events & Activities
How do I know what Events & Activities to plan?
While some of you may come into this role with many great ideas, others may not. That's totally OK. Either way, it is important to understand what factors are at play during the event planning process.
Student Feedback
Following the servant leadership model, it is important to connect with the students at your campus to see what kind of events and activities they would like to partake in. This outreach will increase attendance at your events and ensure that students have a more robust student experience. It will also ensure you are thinking more broadly about all students rather than just a subset of your campus population.
You can connect with students through your office hours, Students' Council meetings, surveys and more! Sometimes the greatest ideas come from walking around campus and chatting with students where you find them - in the cafeteria, in the Learning Commons, Campus Housing - and asking them what types of events and activities they'd appreciate. Discuss any alternative plans with your VP Communications.

Inclusive & Accessible Events
NSCC affiliated events have set expectations for diversity and inclusion. Please adhere to the Inclusive Event Guidelines to ensure your event complies with NSCC policies.
Pay close attention to the Event Organizing Checklist beginning on page 7. This section will review appropriate accommodations regarding facilities, venues and floor plans as well as considerations for event timing and scheduling.
If you have any questions regarding inclusive and accessible events, please reach out to your Student Life Assistant. Remember - we host inclusive and accessible events not only because the law says we should but because it is the right thing to do. Every student has contributed to the Student Association and we should try hard to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to participate.
