29 President’s Project

The Expectation

  • The President’s Project can be whatever you would like it to be – your Student Life Assistant is here to help you find an idea and help you develop it.
  • Your Project should be beneficial to students at your campus. It should be something manageable for you to complete over the next few months.

The Goal

  • For you to work on a project that has meaning to you & will leave a lasting impact on the Student Association and/or your campus.

Develop an Outline

When developing your president’s project, consider the following and create a document to share with Student Life that outlines each point.

  1. What is your project.
    • Include a title, your intentions, and a description of the project.
  2. Why have you chosen this project.
    • Include your personal connection, value to campus community , need etc.
  3. Your plan for success.
    • How you plan to achieve your goal and the steps involved. Include a timeline to help you stay on track to complete the project.
  4. How will you measure the success of your project.
    • Consider the impact your project will have on students at your campus.

Submitting the outline document is an item on the October checklist.

  • Please submit to, or consult with, your Student Life Assistant by October 31st.

President’s project examples

Though you are encouraged to take on a project that you feel passionate about, sometimes this can feel overwhelming. Below, we have listed some past President’s Projects that have been successful and well received by staff and students at campus.

  • job fairs
  • student spaces/rooms (i.e. Indigenous Student Lounge, Safe Space/Pride Lounge, etc.)
  • community student discounts
  • legacy programs (set amounts of money for the following X years to fund certain programs/purchases in support of students)
  • community garden
  • upgrades to the student lounge
  • large scale events
  • food security initiatives

Timeline

You should decide what your project will be early into your term, to allow for the most amount of time to implement it. Please submit your outline by November. If you need some support in selecting an active project, connect with your Student Life Assistant to brainstorm.
