35 Labs 16 & 17: Workshopping your Station

Erin Mazerolle

Half of the lab section will practice their station on each day (March 2nd and March 9th). Your group will practice your station twice on one lab day, and the rest of us will offer feedback and suggestions. Your first practice will be with a group that is not presenting (small group practice). After considering their feedback, your group will present to everyone (larger group practice).

Imagine you were back in high school. Remember your past self. How would you have felt if you were asked to do this activity?

Let’s think of some “worst case scenarios.”

  • What would you do if a participant did not engage, but stared blankly at you (or looked away) and did not respond to your prompts?
  • What would you do if a participant had a bad reaction and showed an emotion like aggravation or frustration?

Notes:

Practicers will be evaluated in one submission link. Your grade will be based on how prepared you/your group was for your workshop session. Individual grades will be assigned based on your performance in the lab (2.5 points) and the log you submit here (2.5 points). Include details such as how the work was distributed and how the neuroscience content was prepared (e.g., references).

Audience will be evaluated in the subsequent homework assignment link. Feedback will be submitted at the end of your lab section.

In summary, over the next two weeks, you will submit one homework assignment in the first link (you and your group practice your station on one week) and two homework assignments in the subsequent link (you give feedback on both weeks because there is always another group practicing).
