Chapter 6 questions
- Construct an electronic version of a table with three columns (method, spatial resolution, and temporal resolution). As you read the chapter, complete the table – filling in information about each of the methods in terms of their spatial and temporal resolution.
- What are some actions or philosophies that might be adopted to move to less WEIRD research?
- The text indicates that both phrenology and Broca’s observations support localization of function. Paraphrase this idea. The text also indicates we also think about connections. What is your position on this localization vs. connection debate? Defend your position.
- Develop a reason why a person might need to get information about their brain. Then, identify 4 methods discussed in this chapter. Ask your group-mates which method is best and why. Group-mates should explain why they eliminate other choices, too. (Consider this activity like a verbal multiple-choice question.)
- Computational neuroscience is not identified as a method of neuroscience, but as a branch of neuroscience. Distinguish between these identities. Do you agree with this identification of computational neuroscience? Why or why not?
